The Mississippi Delta is the flat alluvial plain that flanks the western part of the state. This leaf-shaped area is often referred to as the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta, for its borders are defined by these two powerful rivers. David L. Cohn, author of God Shakes Creation and Greenville native, devised a geo-cultural definition of the region. He wrote that “the Delta begins in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel in Memphis and ends on Catfish Row in Vicksburg.” His boundaries encompass our Mississippi Delta Hot Tamale Trail. Below is an interactive map of the Mississippi Delta Hot Tamale Trail. Use it to plan your own road trip to visit the places we've documented. Grab a napkin and go! Our trek along the Tamale Trail has only just begun. Enjoy what's here and check back often, as we'll be unveiling new tamale stories as fast as we can gather them. ![]()
